Park 2 Park 5 Mile

9 Jul

My morning started pretty early…. I had to do packet pick-up before the race after I parked at Fairview and rode the bus over to Miller Park. I’m usually the person that pulls in right before a race and hops out and runs to the starting line. Someone (not mentioning any names… you know who you are :)) has suggested that I need to actually start warming up before races… so since she is such a fastie and awesome runner, I took her advice! I was EARLY to Miller Park and was on my way with the warm up.  Christine found me and we continued to run so I think I ended up with 1.7 miles warmup at 10:00 pace. We also did some sprint warmups at the starting line. The race started off with a loop around Miller Park and then we turned out towards main street. I figured with it being 7:30 am it would be cool… I was soooo wrong. It was humid and hot! I felt pretty good until about mile 3.5 to 4.5… they weren’t kidding about the hills in this race. It was definitley a very tough 5 miles. I was certainly missing 5k races at this point haha. It was a very good experience, but I was worn out. I did manage to place in my age group since the awards went 5 deep!!!! Christine sent me all the pics from the race… thanks!!!!!

You kicked some bootay!! Congrats on your win and running your longest race distance yet (hint hint)! 😉

You can call me out for busting your butt to do a warm up, it’s okay. 😉 You know it helped to do it. 😉

I’m SO glad you are racing so much! You just keep improving by leaps and bounds!!

Yeah I know, I really struggled at Dog Days not having a warm up…. or a trip to the restroom! lol Darn navigation just wasn’t wanting me to race I don’t think! When is the next race on your schedule? There’s one this weekend I was thinking about running… it gets me out of bed in the mornings 🙂
