I’m back!

I took a long hiatus from blogging, mainly because I wasn’t doing any training to blog about. I really missed running so I am forgetting about all of the issues I had in 2010 and am going to make the most of 2011.

Although I wasn’t running much, I was taking circuit training classes at 4 seasons. I recently took a spinning class, which I loved, so that has been my main source of cardio. But, after realizing that racing season is only 2 months away, I decided that maaaaybe I should be running as well. I started running on the dreaded treadmill last week… I’m bored of it already! This is how last week went:

12/20    Bike: 18 mi (50 min)
               
12/21    Bike: 17 mi (50 min)
                Run: 3.1 mi (9:30 pace)

12/22   Bike: 20 mi (50 min) Lake Tahoe ride
                Run: 3.1 mi (9:00 pace)

12/23   Bike: 20 mi (50 min) 
               Run: 20 min warmup for spinning class
               Class: Strong (60 min)

12/24   DAY OFF

12/25   Run: 7 mi (60 min, 8:30 pace)

12/26   Run: 3.1 mi (9:00 pace)

Totals:    75 miles (Bike)
                 19.5 miles (Run)
                 1 hour Strong class (cross-training)

Last week was the first time ever that I have taken a spinning class and then followed that with time on the treadmill. I seem to actually run better after I’m all warmed up from riding.  Go figure! (this is also coming from someone saying that they would NEVER get on a bike haha) So once the temps warm up, I think I’m going to start looking for a bike of my own so that I can enjoy riding outdoors.

This week there are no classes at my gym which is super annoying because that usually keeps me motivated to go. Nonetheless I know I need to spend more time on the treadmill and do some ab and strength training on my own for this week.  I hope to have a new training plan for 2011 and can’t wait to get started on that… I’ll share once its finished.
